    Hi,

In the datasheet for the CODESYS Control for Wago PFC100 SL see attached it states Codesys on the PFC100 supports

    Modbus tcp ip Master Slave
    Ethernet I/P Scanner/Adapter
    ProfiNET Controller/Device.
    EtherCAT Master

So in the case of the PFC 100's that have two ethernet ports on them. Can one port, lets say X2 be set up as EtherCAT Master AND a ProfiNET Controller and read write to two slave PLC's over the same ethernet port.

The reason I ask is because the wagos website states the PFC100 only supports Modbus tcp ip Master Slave and Ethernet I/P
    https://eshop.wago.com/JPBC/0_5StartPag ... O01&zone=7

Some background on our requirement. Have a new project and the customer wants to look at a new controller hardware software options. The new controller will be used as a site master to read write with two third party vendor controllers, one talking ProfiNET and the other talking EtherCAT. If Wago PFC100 Codesys 3 combination allow us to talk multiple protocols from one port, that would be a very strong feature indeed.

So when the attached codesys data sheet refers to supported field bus is it field buses supported by the base controller unit?

    Hi,

it is possible to do several fieldbus on one interface but only:

Profinet & Modbus & Ethernet IP on the same interface
Ethercat in combination with any other fieldbus makes not really sense because it would destroy the realtime capabilties of ethercat - you basically need 1:1 Connection to your slaves exclusive with one interface.

One remark you would come pretty quick to some performance limitations on PFC's if you use it as profinet controller
but check the store for the other devices see the products according their performance in this screenshot (rough estimate)
    lower device - lowest Performance

Would be nice to have a multicore arm device from Wago.

    Hi Edwin,

Thanks for your quick response and apologies for my late reply. I was expecting to get an email when a reply was posted, but I never got one.

So just to clarify a Wago Controller like the PFC100; 2 x ETHERNET; ECO using Codesys 3.5 will support EtherCAT, Profinet, even though the Wago spec only specifies Modbus TCP/IP and EtherNET i/p, which presumably is an eCOCKPIT software limitation not a hardware limitation, since codesys 3.5 can run Ethercat or profinet on the PFC100's.

So - if we want to support EtherCAT and ProfiNET protocols, best practice would be to add one PFC's for each protocol and a Profinet controller might be better suited to a PFC200

    Thanks for the assistance.

    Paul

hm this should happen.. if there is an answer on your post

So - if we want to support EtherCAT and ProfiNET protocols, best practice would be to add one PFC's for each protocol and a Profinet controller might be better suited to a >PFC200
    vice versa
Ethercat might be better suited from my experiance - you could add as many slaves you want - if you do this with profinet , you will become performance issues with the PFC

    Hi Edwin,

Thanks for the assistance very helpful.

We are trying to get the sub vendors on the project to provide EtherCAT slaves on their end, which sounds like it will be better for us, being able to use lower spec platforms on our side, thereby reducing cost and complexity.

Regarding the email notifications. Im still not seeing them in my spam or inbox. I have checked the email address and it is correct. I received emails when I created the account. I have the check box checked to 'Notify me when a reply is posted'. Is there another setting I am missing?

    Thanks

    Hi PaulH,

Just for your information i have a project where using PFC200 on multi protocol on the Ethernet port as below :

-Port 1 : EtherCat - communicate with the beckhoff IO
-Port 2: Ethernet/IP - Communicate with ABB robot / Web Visual also access via this port.

It have working fine and no issue for the pass 1 year.
