I have a Wago 750-8202 PLC which is fitted with a number of analog and digital I/O modules. I would like to know if there is a way to detect hardware faults in the modules. I recognise that some modules have diagnostic data but this is simply the state of the signal, not the module itself.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

only the status bits are normally used.
